Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the school currently enrolls 940 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members. We are seeking a skilled and experienced
Piano Accompanist
to support our choral music program for grades 6-12. The ideal candidate will have excellent sight‑reading skills, advanced piano technique, an ability to play a variety of styles (classical, pop, theatre, gospel), and improvisation ability to accompany choruses. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of coaching sectionals for students in grades 6-12.
In addition to the role of accompanist, the selected candidate has the opportunity to serve as an in‑school private
Piano Instructor . The instructor must be well‑qualified, experienced, and confident in teaching private students of wide‑ranging ages and abilities (typically ages 5‑18). The ideal candidate will select and provide developmentally appropriate repertoire, communicate effectively with students and parents regarding scheduling, practice, instruction, and curriculum goals, and provide students occasional performance opportunities such as recitals.
Close collaboration with department colleagues is necessary to implement our curricular goals. Flexibility, creativity, and a sense of humor are highly desirable qualities.
Preferred Qualifications
Outstanding musical skills
Experience in choral accompaniment
Experience teaching student musicians (grades 6‑12)
Experience playing a variety of genres (e.g., classical, gospel, pop, Broadway theatre)
Compensation $78 per hour; this position is not eligible for benefits.
