Senior Configuration Manager
located in Kettering, OH (Dayton, WPAFB) to support our EPASS GB contract. This role supports the AFLCMC/GB Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate and the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Initiative (MROi), aiding transforming and standardizing business processes and enabling materiel solutions for Air Force Sustainment Center planning, scheduling, and execution of depot maintenance. Responsibilities
Provide support across Configuration Management (CM), Quality Assurance (QA), Program Planning (PP), Risk Management (RM), and System Engineering (SE) activities, adapting to program needs. Provide resources with experience in technical writing, analysis, and managing configuration of software, engineering documents, design drawings, engineering changes/notices, and design audits to enable government ownership of the technical baseline. Maintain CM of system artifacts (documentation, source code, build files, scripts, etc.) to enable government builds/releases. Archive acquisition documentation; review and evaluate CM program/data deliveries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Maintain CM files (identification, change control, status accounting); implement CM plans. Participate in cross-functional change control boards (e.g., CCB, FRB, RRB) to record/manage changes; monitor board membership for currency. Support engineering assessments and major audits (PCAs, FCAs); record actions and findings. Report software delivery status; support pre-/post-contract award data reviews; evaluate contractor conformance to CDRL requirements. Manage government and contractor correspondence; establish workflows; ensure item identification and documentation. Track CM deliverables and responses; develop/archive paper and automated archival systems for all documentation. Collaborate with program management, systems engineers, quality managers, draftsmen, and design/manufacturing engineers in an integrated product team environment. Develop and administer CM plans; maintain design traceability and integrity; convene/change control boards; prepare for major events (TIMs, PDRs, CDRs, PCAs, FCAs, CCBs). Assist the government with CM for ERP and IT systems, including planning and documentation; manage software, hardware, firmware configurations for IT systems. Support requirements/change control boards through meetings and meeting minutes; track proposed/approved changes (ECPs, CRs, DRs/PRs) across the lifecycle. Ensure baseline integrity across major/minor releases and patches; provide QA checks on system baselines (Functional, Allocated, Product). Support licensing tasks and packaging/delivery of software; maintain CM library/repository; manage system baselines. Recommend CM plans for software, hardware, firmware, and peripherals; evaluate data for software-driven systems; monitor CM plan effectiveness and recommend resolutions. Audit/review IT configurations for compliance; control IT system configurations; develop access/change control guidelines to prevent unauthorized changes. Develop/advise CM plans for IT/engineering environments and support administration of change control events within an integrated product team. Job Requirements
U.S. Citizenship Master's or Doctorate degree in a related field with ten years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, five of which must be in the DoD OR Bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 12 years of experience in the respective discipline, five of which must be in the DoD OR 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, eight of which must be in the DoD Candidate must possess and be able to maintain a
T3/SECRET
clearance Must have knowledge to be considered highly skilled in their technical/professional field and be able to work independently and oversee junior personnel Demonstrates advanced knowledge of their discipline and ability to apply standards, procedures, and practices across interfacing programs IT Configuration Management experience within a DoD environment; formal CM directives/standards/training knowledge (Plan, Identify, Control, Audit/Verify, Status Accounting) Experience performing hardware/software configuration audits; CM tools administration (e.g., Git, Gitlab, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, AWS Config, Azure DevOps Server, Insight, StarTeam) Experience producing release notes and CM reports; understanding of change control processes and CM boards Baseline administrative activities for multiple environments; strong written and oral communication; ability to develop management briefings Understanding of all phases of the software development life cycle; ability to manage system configuration items in databases Ability to perform critical analysis, problem identification, and research; extensive technical writing experience; assist in developing CM plans and attending major events (TIMs, PDRs, CDRs, PCAs, FCAs, CCBs) Preferred Qualifications
