Summary of Job Duties (Responsibilities) The successful candidate will lead a comprehensive statewide extension program of excellence in wildlife management. Emphasis areas will include upland game bird management and nuisance/invasive wildlife issues in addition to wildlife management issues that address stakeholder needs and complement efforts of fellow natural resources extension and research team members. Candidates should develop educational programs for landowners, hunters, residential homeowners, natural resources professionals, county Extension agents, and 4‑H youth. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders effectively through site visits, field tours, workshops, extension publications and online content. The incumbent will have a statewide program, integrating county agents into extension efforts, responding to agent questions in a timely manner, developing effective training programs, and demonstrating projects to support extension efforts. Close collaboration with extension and research colleagues, both within AFRC and across relevant disciplines, will also be essential. The incumbent will publish in peer‑reviewed outlets, extension publications, web‑based media, and popular press, and generate program support through extramural funding from competitive sources such as state and federal grants, foundations, and industry contracts.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in a natural resources‑related field, with at least one degree related to wildlife or wildlife management, is required (by date of hire). Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and have a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required skills include the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey technical information to a non‑technical audience orally and in writing, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and collegial work environment. Flexibility to travel throughout the state is required.

Preferred Qualifications Experience planning and implementing wildlife management programs with private forest landowners, state forestry or wildlife agencies, or other wildlife management practitioners; certification as a natural resource professional by The Wildlife Society or state registration board; and demonstrated knowledge of the land‑grant mission and role of Extension.
