Kiewit Nuclear Solutions - Electrical Engineer
We are seeking experienced Electrical Design Engineers to join our team in Lenexa, KS, or Oak Ridge, TN. Our nuclear safety culture is strong, and we value engineers who deliver safe, cost‑effective, and innovative designs that meet client expectations.
The Electrical Design Engineer functions in a mid‑level engineering capacity, performing all aspects of conventional and nuclear design engineering. The engineer must have practical engineering aptitude, a willingness to learn quickly, the ability to work with little supervision, strong leadership skills, and a willingness to travel periodically.
Location Lenexa, KS or Oak Ridge, TN.
Responsibilities
Power System Studies: Conduct and review detailed AC/DC calculations using ETAP, including short circuit, voltage drop, arc‑flash, motor starting, and relay coordination.
Procurement & Vendor Support:
Develop and review equipment specifications.
Participate in bid evaluations and manage vendor Q&A tracking.
Design Development:
Prepare scoping documents and perform constructability reviews.
Design and review lighting, communications, and security systems.
Collaboration & Client Interface:
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Engage with clients and implementation personnel.
Travel: Visit client/vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews and construction coordination.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
Experience: 5+ years in electrical system design for industrial or nuclear power plant projects.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in selecting equipment and materials.
Experienced in preparing engineering design packages, calculations, and specifications.
Skilled in designing low and medium voltage distribution systems (e.g., transformers, generators, motors, relays).
Soft Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication.
Highly detail‑oriented.
Licensure: PE license or ability to obtain.
Other Requirements
Regular, reliable attendance.
Work productively and meet deadlines.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Perform work safely and effectively, following oral and written instructions, warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines; work overtime and weekends as required.

Base Compensation:
$123,000/yr – $129,000/yr
