ABOUT THE ROLE Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Controller to train under and succeed the retiring Chief Financial Officer. This key leadership role oversees all aspects of financial management, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will lead a strategic transformation of the finance function—elevating it from a traditional support role to a core driver of organizational growth and performance. The position manages a team of 5 direct reports and approximately 15 professionals supporting field accounting operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital allocation to drive growth and long‑term value creation
Oversee all aspects of corporate accounting, including consolidated financial reporting, GAAP compliance, and external audit management
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and develop robust enterprise risk management strategies
Partner with operational leaders to improve cost management, financial performance, and efficiency
Manage capital structure, treasury, and banking relationships to ensure optimal liquidity and funding
Strengthen internal controls, systems, and governance to enhance transparency and accountability
Transform the finance team into a proactive, data‑driven strategic partner supporting executive leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing finance organization, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Active CPA license required
Blend of public accounting and private sector experience with increasing levels of responsibility
Strong background in project and partnership accounting, financial reporting, cost control, and revenue recognition
Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Advanced analytical, strategic, and organizational capabilities with strong attention to detail
Proven leadership experience with demonstrated ability to mentor and develop high‑performing teams
Proficiency with financial systems and reporting platforms such as Procore or similar enterprise tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience within the construction or engineering industry
Expertise in capital planning, strategic forecasting, and financial transformation initiatives
Familiarity with scaling finance functions in complex or growth‑oriented organizations
