The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate follow-up on insurance claims and patient balances to ensure maximum reimbursement. This role requires strong attention to detail, professionalism in patient communications, and a solid understanding of insurance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Review and follow up on outstanding insurance claims, denials, and patient balances.
Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim rejections and discrepancies.
Process claim appeals and corrections in accordance with payer requirements.
Provide excellent customer service when assisting patients with billing inquiries and balances.
Document account activity clearly and accurately in the billing system.
Collaborate with the billing lead and follow-up team to meet productivity and collection goals.
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards at all times.
And other duties as needed.
Qualifications
2–3 years of experience in medical billing or AR follow-up, preferably in a dermatology or specialty practices.
Strong understanding of EOBs, claim statuses, and insurance follow-up processes.
Experience with eClinicalWorks and clearinghouses such as TriZetto preferred.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork.
Compensation Competitive hourly rate based upon experience
