The Opportunity CACI is seeking a Paralegal (Legal Assistant I) to support the Department of Justice’s mission. This position plays a critical role and involves working on high‑profile cases. We are looking for candidates who are able to work in an office setting. Paralegal duties focus on litigation support and preparation for upcoming trials.
This is an opportunity for you to provide case management and database maintenance assistance in a litigation support capacity. You will also gain invaluable experience using automated litigation support and eDiscovery tools and resources to add to your skill set.
The Paralegal (Legal Assistant I) role works closely with federal prosecutors supporting the Health Care Fraud Unit in a fast‑paced setting and assists in the investigation and prosecution of various matters to enforce the laws of the United States, up to and including support assistance for witness interviews, deposition preparation, and in‑courtroom trial support.

Responsibilities The Paralegal works under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal. In this role, you will perform litigation services while complying with established procedures, including but not limited to the following:
Compile, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents.
Summarize depositions and other transcripts; maintain case files.
Perform simple legal research.
Index, track and control document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery).
Index, track and exhibit other materials at depositions and at trial.
Prepare exhibit cross‑references.
Assist attorneys in courtroom.
Review documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria.
Other examples of the types of work to be performed include compilation of documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc.
Qualifications Required:
Paralegal certificate, or a four‑year college degree.
At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (including internships) related to health care, project or document management, policy, research, government staffing, publishing; or equivalent experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands‑on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
Technological proficiency in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Understanding of how electronically stored information (computer files) work within an operating system, including experience effectively managing, organizing, and analyzing digital files and folders.
Transferable skills related to Electronically Stored Information (ESI) tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources. Coding skills are welcomed, although not required.
Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure.
DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required).

Pay Range This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACI’s government contract for the work location.
Minimum Required Hourly Wage:
$23.07
Other factors that can influence final salary include location, prior experience, specific skills and certifications.
