Ampersand Therapy , a women-founded and therapist-run company based in Western Washington, is seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year in Issaquah, WA .
We are passionate about making school-based therapy and teaching more rewarding and sustainable. Whether you're an experienced DHH Teacher or new to the role, we offer a supportive environment designed by therapists, for educators.
Location : Issaquah, Washington Start Date : August 2025 Schedule : 0.6 FTE; days are flexible; in-person Student Population : elementary and secondary
Job Requirements:
Washington State teaching license with Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
Experience working with students with hearing loss preferred
Ability to develop and implement IEPs for DHH students
Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., SLPs, OTs, school staff)
Must complete required fingerprinting prior to start
Key Responsibilities:
Offer a variety of communication modalities utilized by students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including ASL, SEE, listening and spoken language and/or combination as appropriate to the situation.
Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
Adapt curriculum and teaching methods for students with hearing impairments
Collaborate with school staff, families, and other professionals
Track student progress and adjust instruction as needed
Support students with additional disabilities when applicable
Maintain regular communication with families
