Overview
The Pantry at Massasoit Community College is an on-campus food pantry that serves students, staff, faculty, and community members. Pantry is a key resource that strives to reduce food insecurity among students, staff, and community members by providing access to supplemental groceries, personal hygiene products, and a daily free lunch, snack, and drink. The Clerk/ Food Pantry Assistant works to support the daily operations of the Food Pantry at Massasoit Community College. Responsibilities and Duties
Provide a warm welcoming environment by greeting students, community members, staff, and faculty to the food pantry. Assists with the daily operation of the food pantry. Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and experience handling sensitive, confidential information. Register students and community members into YourMarket database. Proficiency with computers is essential. Assist with registering and checking-in students and community members. Issue BAHN cards as needed to students and community members. Help students/staff and community members shop, pack grocery bags with items and weigh bags before giving out. Log weight into YourMarket database. Manage inventory, organize and stock shelves with groceries and hygiene items. Follow safe food handling and storage practices, ensure that all food pantry areas remain clean, well-maintained and properly organized. Document temperature of refrigerator and freezer on daily log (twice daily - once in the morning and once before closing). Experience working and engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Assist with receiving donations. Any damaged or open items cannot be given out. Remind community members to bring in their own bags the next time they come to shop at the pantry. Break down empty boxes and place them in recycle bin. Wipe down any spills immediately to avoid any injuries. Keep floors clear and clean to avoid slipping and falling. Job Requirements
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as a team with Work Study Students. Reliable, organized, detail orientated, comfortable speaking with students/ staff and community members. Experience working and engaging with individuals/ families from diverse populations with empathy and respect. Prior experience in community service, customer service, food pantry, retail a plus Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply Additional Information

Non-Unit Professional, part time position. Hours:
18 hours per week, up to 936 hours annually Salary:
$17.00 per hour Worksite:
