Job Purpose This role provides comprehensive, proactive legal support to Deutsche Post DHL business units in the U.S. (including DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain, and DHL Global Mail) and to units with legal issues arising in the United States. The position advises on regulatory affairs, customs and trade law, and manages high‑impact projects.
Your Tasks
Lead advisory on U.S. trade laws and regulatory matters for DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL E‑Commerce, DHL Supply Chain, and Post & Parcel Germany.
Engage senior management and the DHL Group Board on risks and remedies, and represent the company in external regulatory consultations.
Act as the lead attorney of the Global Customs Committee for all U.S. nexus customs compliance issues and support the GCO in implementing and revising the Customs Compliance Manual.
Develop and implement U.S. customs compliance strategies, monitor teams, and drive corrective action plans.
Advise on U.S. Government contracting requirements and coordinate compliance plans with senior leadership.
Represent business units before U.S. regulatory agencies such as CBP, TSA, OFAC, and others.
Identify and select outside counsel for investigations, advise on internal investigations and voluntary disclosures, and support generalist attorneys on trade and regulatory matters.
Maintain relationships with government authorities and monitor new legal and regulatory developments.
Manage U.S. Government audits, including site visits inside and outside the United States.
Your Profile
B.A. from an accredited institution.
J.D. from an accredited law school with 10+ years of experience in a corporate legal environment.
Expertise in CBP regulations and knowledge of TSA/BATF regulations.
Knowledge of trade laws in key Americas markets (Canada, Mexico, Brazil, etc.).
Experience managing internal investigations on trade or regulatory compliance violations, including compliance metric development.
Experience dealing with DOJ and FISA subpoena inquiries.
Government experience a plus.
