Associate Director, Community Engagement and Programs

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science seeks an Associate Director for Community Engagement and Programs at Drew Center for AIDS Research Education and Services (Drew CARES). The role will provide leadership to organize and oversee HIV service administration on the CDU/MLK Medical Campus and collaborate with the Associate Director of Research to facilitate regular meetings among community agencies, campus HIV providers, and other stakeholders to advance collective goals. Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement:

Build partnerships with schools, community organizations, and advocacy groups to promote child health initiatives; design and oversee outreach programs focused on preventative care, health education, and access to pediatric, HIV, and HIV‑prevention services; advocate for policies that address social determinants of health affecting children and families, and individuals living with HIV; monitor and evaluate the impact of engagement activities to ensure alignment with departmental and Drew CARES goals. Administrative Duties:

Represent Drew CARES at national, regional, and local meetings; prepare summaries of policy and funding changes; follow local, state, and federal policy developments related to HIV care; manage LA County Division of HIV/STD Program contracts, site visits, and corrective action reviews; serve as the primary liaison between the university and DHSP; oversee program management and the development of standard operating procedures, internal policies, and the Partnership for Unified Services for HIV (PUSH); monitor program budgets, support grant accounting, lead and support student activities, and supervise staff as needed. Data Management:

Oversee the patient database for Drew CARES, develop screening and prevention standards, and facilitate the creation of a PUSH data dashboard to track clinical quality, patient experience, and coordination of care; compile data for shared dashboards. Workflow Development:

Facilitate discussions on existing and desired workflows for patient care at PUSH meetings; collaborate with leadership across organizations to operationalize workflows. Research and Service Coordination:

Initiate and oversee research approvals, volunteer applications, and data management; maintain logs of ongoing projects; support budgeting, reporting, and grant‑writing activities; submit IRB applications and represent the coalition at required meetings. Other Duties:

Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications

Education:

Doctoral degree in a health‑related field or equivalent experience. Experience:

Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience, including experience working with health coalitions. Knowledge/Skills:

Minimum competency in a second language; proficiency in word‑processing software; strong oral and written communication skills. Complexity:

Ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while handling multiple inquiries. Compensation

$75,500 - $115,000 Annual Position Status

Full Time, Exempt Conditional Employment

Job contingent on continued funding and availability of grant resources. Position may terminate on grant end dates unless an extension is granted in writing by senior university leadership. EEO Statement
