Position Overview The
Housing Case Manager
is a frontline advocate supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and families—particularly people of color—experiencing homelessness or housing instability. This role combines direct case management, housing navigation, crisis support, and community partnerships to ensure clients have access to
safe, stable, and affirming housing options . The ideal candidate is compassionate, resourceful, and deeply committed to housing justice and equity.
Key Responsibilities Client Support & Case Management
Conduct comprehensive housing assessments and develop individualized housing plans.
Assist clients in securing affordable, safe, and affirming housing.
Provide crisis response and coordinate emergency shelter access when needed.
Advocate for clients experiencing housing discrimination or barriers, including support with tenant rights.
Systems Navigation & Partnerships
Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, shelters, housing programs, and community service providers.
Refer clients to wraparound services such as employment programs, legal support, healthcare, and financial literacy resources.
Collaborate with external partners to promote housing stability and reduce barriers for LGBTQ+ clients.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate case files, housing plans, and progress notes.
Enter timely and complete data into IOOV’s systems and funder databases (e.g., HMIS).
Support reporting requirements and contribute to program evaluation.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
Participate in outreach and education efforts to promote housing equity and raise awareness of IOOV’s housing services.
Represent IOOV in housing coalitions, task forces, and community meetings.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or related field strongly preferred.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with LGBTQ+ communities, especially LGBTQ+ people of color.
Demonstrated knowledge of housing systems, tenant rights, and fair housing laws.
Strong crisis management, organizational, and communication skills.
Commitment to cultural humility and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Preferred
Experience in housing case management or housing navigation.
Familiarity with local housing programs, HMIS systems, and community resources.
Bilingual (Spanish/English).
