Responsibilities The primary function of the Food Service Program Coordinator is to coordinate food service for the corps program, meeting, and events, including but not limited to the ordering, planning, stocking, preparing, serving, and distributing of food. Additionally, ensures that the kitchen is properly maintained and cleaned to meet sanitation standards.
Coordinate assigned volunteers to assist with feeding programs.
Prepare and serve food for board meetings, weekly community meals, holiday meals, teen center meals, fellowship meetings, Sunday lunches, and other scheduled gatherings.
Submit weekly supply orders from Berks County Food Bank every Monday.
Maintain food inventory with labeling, date stamping, and rotation.
Plan balanced menus each week and post accordingly.
Collaborate with program staff and corps officers to anticipate food needs for special events.
Coordinate food needs for canteen and anticipate adequate supplies for emergency situations.
Assist the commanding officer in anticipating food needs for holiday food drives and Christmas food box distribution.
Plan food for special events such as annual block party.
Operate within approved food service budget/allocation.
Submit requisitions for food orders and supplies to corps commanding officer.
Purchase food from local vendors as authorized.
Ensure kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and reporting of maintenance issues.
Require volunteers to have appropriate safety and food handling training.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
Two years of prior work experience in food programs or service.
ServSafe Food Safety and Handling certification, or willingness to obtain within 60 days.
Strong organizational skills, detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, reliable, and a team player.
Ability to use financial resources resourcefully in a non‑profit environment.
Understanding and maintaining confidentiality for clients, parishioners, volunteers, staff, and donors.
Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
