Job Summary Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) seeks an Assistant Professor in Public History with a specialization in Modern U.S. History, beginning August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 load of lower‑division U.S. History survey courses and upper‑division courses in Public History and Twentieth‑Century U.S. History. In addition to teaching, applicants must actively participate in scholarly activities and maintain a clear research agenda in their area of expertise.

This role emphasizes a student‑centered learning environment. The selected candidate will engage extensively with students, provide advising and mentoring, and serve the college and community.

Required Qualifications

Terminal degree in American history, public history, or history with at least 18 graduate semester credits in public history.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to teach courses such as America Since 1945, History of Georgia, Oral History, or Digital Humanities.

At least one year of college‑level teaching experience in American or world history survey courses.

Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse student populations.

Sustained professional engagement that demonstrates relevance and currency in the field of teaching.
