Position Summary Under the direction of the Director of Sales and Marketing, the
Marketing Manager
develops and executes the functions of the Marketing Division of the venue through marketing strategy, media and public relations, sponsorship, advertising, promotional activities, and the development of marketing assets. The role enhances the image of the facility and promotes goodwill in the community.
Work Environment This position is on site at the Mobile Convention Center. Standard business hours apply, with occasional flexibility required to support events, including mornings, evenings and weekends as needed. Must maintain regular attendance and a professional presence.
Base Pay Range $50,000 – $57,000 per year
Benefits Health, dental and vision insurance; 401(k) savings plan with employer matching; paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays). The position will remain open until December 31, 2025.
About The Venue The Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center is a spectacular facility with 317,000 gross square feet, including a 100,000 square foot exhibit hall and a unique layout with terraces for outdoor functions and breathtaking views of the Mobile River.
Responsibilities
Drive revenue for the venue through innovative and collaborative marketing tactics that support venue goals.
Work with internal and external key stakeholders to maximize marketing resources while maintaining brand integrity.
Develop and leverage partnerships with customers, clients, industry influencers, and associations to promote the venue’s reputation and position it as a premier destination for conventions, meetings, and community events.
Utilize sales and marketing principles to promote the venue and stay current with emerging marketing trends, tactics, strategies, and technologies.
Assist the Director of Marketing with the creation, development, and implementation of the venue Marketing and Advertising Plan to build regional, national, and international awareness.
Maintain the facility’s website and create and manage editorial, blog, and news content.
Create facility ads for print and digital media.
Develop and maintain the venue email marketing program, focusing on database acquisition and lead generation.
Collaborate with OVG Corporate Partnerships to implement and maintain corporate sponsorships for the building.
Create, develop, and manage content for the venue assets.
Produce marketing collateral including brochures, sales sheets, fact sheets, and presentation decks.
Implement and optimize digital advertising strategy and social media buys for optimal results, audience targeting, higher engagement, website traffic, and goal conversions.
Curate and publish engaging content across all venue social media platforms.
Develop marketing materials and procedures to support effective in-house agency operations for the Sales and Marketing Departments.
Monitor, analyze data, and produce management reports and detailed evaluations of marketing strategies.
Establish and maintain relationships with media, industry influencers, and key community and strategic partners.
Seek new contacts and maintain relationships with media representatives, civic and industry organizations, corporate promotional contacts, and event and booking reps.
Implement the venue client advertising and sponsorship program to drive revenue.
Work with venue partners in creating and supervising marketing plans for events when required.
Collaborate with event, exhibit, and show staff regarding publicity, marketing, and media opportunities.
Attend seminars, conventions, and similar industry events to enhance knowledge.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
B.A. degree from a four year college in hospitality, marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, or journalism.
3–5 years of experience in marketing, strategy, and media initiatives from concept to completion.
A proven record of online engagement and listening skills.
Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Comprehensive knowledge of marketing, advertising, public relations, and digital strategy.
Exceptional command of the English language, both oral and written.
Ability to present information professionally with poise and confidence.
Demonstrated ability to perform as a pragmatic and responsive ambassador of the company.
Builds rapport with a variety of people and develops alliances toward common goals.
