Overview Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our Civil/Site team in New York, NY! Step into our Land Development team and take part in shaping public and private projects that make a real impact on communities. As a Project Engineer, you’ll apply your engineering skills to design grading and drainage solutions, collaborating closely with staff engineers in AutoCAD to bring projects from concept to completion. Responsibilities

Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations for the property.

Conduct site investigation & due diligence – review ordinances, utility service research, outside agency regulations and site visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines.

Prepare concept drawings based upon client’s development objectives and conclusions of due diligence, including coordination with AutoCAD draftsmen.

Lead review and design of stormwater management & stormwater conveyance systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology design software.

Perform pipe sizing calculations for stormwater conveyance systems, including drainage area maps, surface runoff coefficients, invert, slope, velocity & hydraulic grade line evaluation using the Rational Method & Manning’s Equation.

Design grading to achieve value engineering through earthwork analysis and ensure site safety through appropriate design slopes.

Develop subdivision and site plan designs and layouts.

Design utility systems (stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer service, pump station, water, gas, telephone service, etc.) and resolve vertical and horizontal utility conflicts.

Plan soil erosion & sediment control, including stability calculations, best management practices, swale design, spillway design, and construction sequencing.

Prepare construction cost estimates based upon site plan drawings for bonding and client purposes.

Work independently and lead a team of other engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

5‑7+ years of related experience in land development or civil/site engineering.

PE preferred; EIT required.

Knowledge of local municipal, county, and state land use, planning and zoning processes and regulations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development design.

Demonstrated Civil 3D skills with ability to design site layouts from concept through completion.

Self‑starter who works independently and with team members.

Ability to read, write and understand English for job‑related communications.

Compensation: $91,000 to $112,530 per year (depending on qualifications)
