Job Overview & Essential Functions Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist audits and processes weekly payroll, as well as duties related to the upkeep and calculation of employee wages, taxes and deductions. Accurately handles multiple tasks while meeting scheduled deadlines. Prepares vendor payments and reconciles related general ledger accounts.
Responsibilities
Using payroll software, calculates employee earnings, commissions and bonuses as well as employee deductions and taxes.
Ensures regular and supplemental payrolls are executed per company schedules.
Posts, verifies and files employee status changes including new hires, transfers and terminations.
Determines payroll liabilities by calculating amounts due for federal, state, and city taxes, garnishments, 401(k) withholdings, etc. Completes required vendor payment disbursements per pre-determined schedules (i.e. weekly, monthly, and quarterly).
Processes the upkeep of employee garnishments.
Ensures quality of payroll output by running a series of audits during the pay process.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Understanding of basic accounting and reconciliation procedures.
Associate degree in business or accounting, or equivalent experience preferred.
Must be accurate with strong attention to detail.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to handle multiple deadlines in a high volume environment.
Computer skills and previous office experience.
