Position Summary:
The Ice Rink Attendant provides excellent customer service to visitors of the City’s seasonal winter ice rink. This position assists with rink operations including skate rentals, safety monitoring, and light maintenance. Attendants help ensure a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for all guests.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Greet guests and provide friendly, helpful customer service.
Assist with skate rentals, returns, and sizing.
Monitor the ice surface to ensure skater safety and proper conduct.
Enforce rink rules and policies in a polite, professional manner.
Maintain cleanliness of rink area, rental counter, and restrooms.
Assist with ice resurfacing and light maintenance tasks as needed.
Support event setup, tear‑down, and daily opening/closing procedures.
Report incidents, accidents, or maintenance needs to the Ice Rink Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Ability to work outdoors in winter weather conditions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
Previous customer service or recreation experience preferred.
Work Environment:
Work is performed outdoors and may involve exposure to cold temperatures, snow, and ice. Safety gear and uniforms will be provided.

The Winter Ice Rink Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership and operation of the City’s seasonal Winter Ice Rink, located in Lakeside Park alongside the Walkway of Lights. The Manager supervises staff, oversees guest services, monitors ice and bumper car safety, and ensures all operational and maintenance procedures are carried out efficiently. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills to provide a safe and enjoyable holiday experience for over 40,000 annual visitors.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Supervise, train, and schedule a team of seasonal attendants.
Oversee all aspects of daily operations, including skate rentals, bumper car rides, reservations, and guest flow.
Ensure excellent customer service and adherence to City policies and safety standards.
Monitor ice conditions throughout the day and address areas where the ice has melted, softened, or become uneven due to regular use.
Coordinate with staff to perform resurfacing and late‑night ice builds as needed to maintain optimal skating conditions.
Maintain inventory of skates, wristbands, supplies, and concession materials.
Manage point‑of‑sale systems, reconcile daily cash reports, and submit attendance and incident logs.
Serve as the primary on‑site contact for staff, vendors, security, and emergency services.
Support and coordinate special events, theme nights, and private rentals at the rink.
Ensure the facility is clean, organized, and operationally ready at opening and closing each day.
Communicate regularly with the Recreation Manager and Parks Director regarding operations, staffing, and public feedback.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in recreation, hospitality, or management preferred.
One year of supervisory or team‑lead experience required, preferably in recreation, hospitality, or customer service.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work outdoors in cold and variable weather.
Ability to lift 40 lbs and perform moderate physical activity.
CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Experience with point‑of‑sale systems and cash handling preferred.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a fast‑paced, public‑facing environment at an outdoor facility. Work involves extended periods of standing, walking, and exposure to cold temperatures. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional late‑night shifts for ice building and maintenance.
