QUALITY MANAGER Check‑Mate Industries has an immediate opening for a Quality Manager at its Thomasville, GA facility.
Job Summary The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring manufactured products meet set standards of quality, reliability, and performance. The role involves setting and implementing both internal and external quality requirements to meet customer expectations, developing the quality management system using ISO/TS 16949 standards, and managing quality engineers and inspectors.
Responsibilities Quality Management System (QMS)
Maintain the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with QMS standards.
Support external QMS audits.
Process Planning
Conduct assessments of production processes to develop in‑house quality policies, procedures, and specifications.
Collaborate with purchasing, materials, warehouse, and production departments to ensure raw materials from external suppliers meet quality requirements.
Evaluate customer requirements to ensure service standards are met.
Specify quality requirements for raw materials obtained from vendors and suppliers.
Implement and monitor quality assurance standards for consistent product quality.
Establish procedures for sampling, recording, and reporting quality data.
Conduct and monitor inspection of raw materials and final products to ensure compliance with specifications.
Perform tests to verify the quality of raw materials and finished products.
Material Review Board
Research ways to reduce waste and maximize resources.
Compile and analyze relevant quality statistical data to assess quality performance.
Approve compliant products and reject defective ones.
Corrective and Prevention Action (CAPA)
Review existing process and product specifications to identify improvement opportunities.
Address internal and external quality issues to achieve resolution.
Analyze data for trends to prevent future issues.
Audits
Conduct surveys to verify customer requirements are being met by quality standards.
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with local and global production standards.
Conduct quality audits to confirm adherence to quality policies.
Monitor product development processes to identify deviations from quality policies.
Assist external quality auditors in coordinating on‑site audits.
Calibration
Maintain proper records of quality test procedures and standards.
Document quality tests and related activities.
Supervisory
Oversee recruitment and training of quality assurance personnel.
Organize training for quality assurance staff to enhance knowledge of product quality requirements.
Supervise quality engineers, technicians, inspectors, and other staff to ensure compliance with established procedures.
Recommend improvements to existing quality processes for management.
Collaborate with quality personnel to implement procedures, systems, and standards of operation.
Prepare and present reports on quality activities and operations to upper and senior management.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, engineering, or a related discipline.
5+ years’ experience with PFMEA, PPAP/FAI, SPC, and control plans.
Experience with quality/safety standards ITAR, RoHS, and OSHA.
Ability to use precise measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, attribute gauges, height gauges, CMM, and methodologies including Gage R&R.
Certified Quality Inspector/Auditor preferred.
5+ years’ experience in metals manufacturing (stamping, forming & welding) and quality assurance.
Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, IATF16949, etc. implementation.
1-3 years’ experience with Plex ERP, SAP, MRP, or other manufacturing‑wide resource systems.
5+ years’ experience with SME Root Cause and Failure Analysis (CAPA), ASQ Design of Experiments, Lean and Total Quality Systems.
Experience with lean manufacturing principles (Six Sigma).
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Access).
