Post Doctoral Scholar - Microbial Infection & Immunity – The Ohio State University
Department: Medicine | School of Biomedical Sciences, Microbial Infection & Immunity
Position Type: Term (Fixed Term), 40 hours per week, First Shift, Biomedical Research Tower (0112)
Responsibilities Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue research studying the mechanisms of host cell infection by the foodborne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Department of Microbial Infection & Immunity; designs, conducts, and evaluates research experiments; plans and executes advanced microbiology, immunology, and cell biology research techniques and procedures including microscopy imaging; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods; analyzes and interprets data; writes research papers for publication; performs scientific literature searches; presents research findings at local, national, or international scientific meetings; applies for postdoctoral fellowships; assists PI with writing and submitting grant proposals to obtain extramural funding in support of research; participates in journal clubs, laboratory meetings, and Department seminars and activities; assists with training of other lab members.
Minimum Education Required MD, PhD, or MD/PhD required.
Required Qualifications
Ability to interact in a highly multidisciplinary environment.
Experience with microbiology, immunology, and cell biology research techniques and procedures including microscopy imaging desired.
Experience with animal handling and husbandry desired.
