Overview
Head Coach, Women's Soccer at Occidental College. The Head Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the Women’s Soccer program, including coaching, scheduling, practice planning, recruiting, budget oversight, and student-athlete development. The Head Coach supports the mission of the College by fostering an environment of academic and athletic excellence, integrity, and personal growth. The Head Coach collaborates with campus departments such as Admissions, Student Affairs, Institutional Advancement, and Alumni Relations to enhance community engagement and student recruitment. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on institutional needs and the individual’s skills and experience.

Responsibilities
Coaching: Practice planning and execution, contest preparation, scheduling contests, budget planning and oversight, managing program equipment and gear, and supervision of team travel. (Essential)
Recruiting: Implementing and executing an effective recruiting plan, including collaboration with the Admissions Office. (Essential)
Developing Student Athletes: Support the academic success and personal development of student-athletes. (Essential)
Fundraising: Work with Institutional Advancement and Alumni offices to facilitate connections and promote fundraising efforts. (Essential)
Other duties as assigned. (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to position duties or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years of experience in coaching at the collegiate level, preferably within NCAA Division III or a similar competitive environment.
Two years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge of the rules and regulations of Occidental College, the SCIAC Conference, and NCAA Division III.
Ability to work amiably with students, administrators, and faculty.
Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to the academic achievement of student-athletes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Drive/Folders/Forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or related productivity programs.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
Effective communication skills and collaboration across constituencies.
Commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity.
Ability to work in a high-volume, high-accountability, confidential environment with changing priorities.
Strong organizational, logistical, time management, and planning skills.
Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
Ability to provide leadership and training across functions and diverse groups.
Knowledge of contemporary leadership and management methods to support employee success and performance evaluation of direct reports.
Ability to document job functions, evaluate candidates, and hire effectively for vacant positions.
Ability to provide employee development and performance feedback, including documentation of appraisals.
Experience designing corrective strategies and, if needed, performance improvement plans.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in athletic administration, Sports Management, Education or related fields.
Expected Hiring Range:
$70,304/yr - $71,000/yr
Note: Final base salary compensation will be determined based on skills, education, experience, and geographic location.
