Job Description & Duties Oversees and leads the crew engaged in a wide variety of highway maintenance work such as paving, pot‑holing, crack‑sealing, drain and ditch cleaning, sign and delineation installation/maintenance/repair, brush and tree trimming, sweeping and fence repair, and other related duties. In the winter months, leads crew in snow removal and ice control activities.
Operates various maintenance equipment including end‑dump trucks (2–10 cu. yards), front‑end loaders, motor graders, bulldozers, rollers, equipment trailers, and other related vehicles while performing assigned duties. Performs pre‑ and post‑operation checks, minor and emergency repairs, and adjustments to equipment. Sets and removes lane closures using early warning signs, cones, and flares, and performs manual labor as needed.
Maintains crew records using a computer and keeps records of personnel, equipment, and materials used. Leads crew in repairing, maintaining, and cleaning equipment and work areas.
Special Requirements
Drug screening must be passed prior to being hired.
Valid Class B Commercial Driver License with N (Tank Vehicle) endorsement and valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Applicants must provide unofficial transcripts/diplomas for verification. Foreign transcripts/degrees require U.S. equivalency evaluation via https://www.naces.org/members or https://aice-eval.org/. Birthdates and social security numbers must be redacted.
