About the Position

We are looking for an Administrative Assistant to join the Minnehaha County Human Services department. As the first point of contact, you will represent the department to clients and the public in need of services.

What You Will Do

  • Respond to public and client inquiries, provide referrals, and assist with the application process for county assistance.
  • Act as an active, engaged team member who can handle complex situations with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Maintain exemplary communication skills across all interactions.
  • Use Microsoft Office and other software specific to the Human Services office.
  • Prepare, review, and process vouchers, billings, and purchase orders.
  • Monitor office supplies, reorder when needed, and maintain office equipment.
  • Screen incoming mail and correspondence and route it to the appropriate team members.

Required Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED with one year of increasingly responsible clerical experience (or comparable education and experience).
  • Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check.
  • Ability to perform moderately complex secretarial and clerical tasks with independent judgment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
  • Commitment to team success through the completion of tasks, duties, and projects.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $23.02/hour - $25.38/hour
