Responsibilities As an Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner at Mercy, you will be dedicated to treating patients with endocrine diseases such as diabetes, thyroid diseases, and metabolic disorders. You will be part of a comprehensive care team, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, dietitians, and support staff. Your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage patients’ health issues related to the endocrine system.
Develop, monitor, and modify treatment plans as necessary.
Conduct physical examinations and interpret lab tests.
Prescribe medication and hormone therapy as required.
Provide education to patients and their families on disease management and prevention.
Collaborate with endocrinologists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Perform routine follow‑up assessments to monitor patient progress and efficacy of treatment plans.
Maintain accurate patient medical records.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in endocrine care and treatment methodologies.
Participate in continuous education and training programs.
Requirements
Masters in Nursing: Certified Nurse Practitioner.
Must be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner school with board certification or eligibility.
License requirements: Current MD State License.
Minimum 5 years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
BLS/ACLS certification.
Must be CPR certified.
Endocrinology/Diabetes management experience preferred.
EPIC experience preferred.
Must be computer literate or learn within 6 months, be able to follow written and oral instructions, read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action, be flexible, have personal integrity, and be able to function effectively as a team with other employees.
Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
May be required to travel.
