General Position Description The Marketing & Outreach Librarian is responsible for enhancing the visibility and utilization of Three Rivers Regional Library System (TRRLS) by planning, executing, and assessing comprehensive marketing, public relations, and outreach activities. This role involves promoting library resources, services, programs, and events to diverse user groups, managing the library's digital communication channels (website and social media), and fostering strong community relationships through regular outreach initiatives.

The librarian is expected to be a creative and self-motivated professional who ensures the library's brand and voice are consistently and effectively communicated across all platforms. The position requires strong collaboration with library staff across all branches and a commitment to advancing the library's mission within the region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Marketing - 45%

Create, implement, and access comprehensive marketing and communication plans to promote library resources, services, programs, and events to diverse audiences.

Design, write, and edit engaging promotional materials, including flyers, brochures, press releases, newsletters, and annual reports.

Oversee and strategically manage the library’s official social media channels, developing a content calendar, creating posts, and monitoring engagement.

Work closely with other library team members to effectively market and publicize library programs, instruction sessions, and exhibitions.

Collect and analyze data related to marketing campaign effectiveness, website traffic, social media engagement, and outreach activities. Prepare regular reports detailing progress and recommending future strategies.

Ensure consistent use of the library’s brand identity, voice, and visual style across all communication channels and materials.

Plan, coordinate, and participate in regular outreach events, both on-site and off-site, to engage new users, promote services, and reinforce relationships with existing partners. Support libraries in their planned outreach activities.

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations and media outlets.

Identify and purpose partnership opportunities to grow the system’s services and reach.

Other - 10%

Provide training for team members on marketing and outreach best practices.

Assist in covering public service hours or serve as interim branch manager at libraries due to absences or open positions.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education/Certification

This position requires a Master’s degree in Library Science from a school that is accredited by the American Library Association.

Must possess and maintain a current State of Georgia Librarian 5(b) or higher certification.

Experience

Prior experience in marketing, communications, or library outreach through internships, volunteer work, or relevant coursework.

Demonstrated ability to create engaging content for various platforms, including social media and promotional materials.

Strong interpersonal skills with experience building relationships with diverse communities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of public library resources, services, programs, and events.

Ability to prioritize, adapt to multiple demands, balance changing priorities, coordinate multiple ventures, and guide projects through to completion.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Project management experience, including planning, tracking, and evaluating.

Capacity to interact in a positive, effective manner with all team members and the general public.

Perform job duties with a minimum of supervision, work collaboratively in a team environment, and demonstrate professional standards, good judgment, dependability, and timeliness in work environments.

Supervisory Duties This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The work is primarily performed in an office setting, but this position also requires participation in outreach events, which may take place both indoors and outdoors.

This position may require evening and weekend hours in performance of outreach events.

This is a full-time exempt position.

Starting pay of at least $52,400.00 annually.

15 days of annual leave accrued over a year with increases after 3 and 10 years, one floating holiday, and generous sick leave. All leave begins accruing immediately.
