Position Overview
Working Title Political Science Non-Tenure Track Faculty (Applicant Pool) Review of applications will be on a continual basis and will continue until the position(s) are filled. Applicants are retained in the hiring pool for up to two years. General Information: Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non-tenurable level instruction and/or related functions. Instructors are needed to teach classes depending upon need and available funding. Responsibilities
Teach courses in political science open sub-fields including but not limited to American Politics, Political Theory, Public Administration and Policy, International Relations, and Research Methods. Advising, evaluating and assisting students. Qualifications
Required Master’s Degree in political science or public administration or a related field. Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduates. Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department. Preferred PhD in Political Science or Public Administration or related field. Demonstrated experience teaching political science courses. Demonstrated knowledge of college student development. Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity. Have the ability to relate to freshmen and to develop classroom rapport with students. The ability to mentor and inspire a diverse student body. Have effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty and staff. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Possess the potential to provide leadership and to assume responsibility for organizational and program activities. The Department The Department of Political Science is a small department, with 8 tenure-track faculty and 150-200 undergraduate students. We also offer an MPA degree and maintain about 20 MPA students on average.
