Muskegon Catholic Central is seeking the position of HR Generalist to become a part of the Business Office team. This position performs a broad range of human resources functions that aides in the flow of employee benefits and payroll as well as various other responsibilities as outlined in this posting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment and Hiring

Post job openings internally and externally; coordinate recruitment events. Collaborate with hiring supervisors to screen applications, organize interviews, and develop interview materials (questions, rubrics, etc.). Manage hiring, onboarding, and substitute staff coordination Conduct background and reference checks Stay current on recruitment and hiring best practices. Benefits Administration

Explain, enroll, and process employee benefits (health, retirement, etc.). Serve as primary contact for benefit providers and coordinate update meetings (e.g., retirement planning). Ensure compliance with all state and federal benefits regulations. Compliance and Reporting

Maintain accurate employee records (digital and physical), including a master employee list. Oversee teacher certification, Catechist Certification, VIRTUS training, fingerprinting, and background checks per Diocese of Grand Rapids requirements. Prepare required annual reports (NonPublic Staff Reports, DPPD logs, SCECH requests, etc.). Ensure staff review and sign the Employee Handbook annually and adhere to labor laws. Generate HR reports on staffing, payroll, and turnover as requested. Payroll

Manage payroll processes, including timecard oversight, verification, and issue resolution. Review and approve all support staff timesheets. Administrative and Organizational Support

Partner with school leadership on staffing, workforce planning, and HR communications. Manage HR content on the intranet and website. Oversee onboarding (orientation, materials, web updates) and offboarding (exit interviews, benefit updates). Coordinate annual Intent to Return, MOU, and Employee Manual review processes. Maintain accurate position descriptions and support professional development planning for staff. Communicate regularly about HR updates, deadlines, and initiatives. Handle all employee and institutional information with discretion and confidentiality. Participate in meetings, training, and school life; attend diocesan and regional meetings as appropriate. Assist in the Business Office and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Business Affairs. QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree or higher. Strong commitment to the mission of Muskegon Catholic Central and Catholic education. Experience and knowledge of HR principles and best practices. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. High ethical standards and discretion in handling sensitive information. Proficiency in HR software and data systems. Ability to lead, collaborate, and manage multiple projects effectively. Practicing Catholic preferred. BENEFITS
