This position will be paying a competitive fulltime salary from $120,000 - $130,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities
Installation and Upgrading a z/OS environment, Customization, Problem Determination, Performance Analysis Tuning, Capacity Planning, and WLM for the IBM Mainframe z/Series z/OS Systems, Hardware Systems & Peripherals, z/Series based ISV (Independent Software Vendor) Software, and z/Series Network Communications. Interface with management and the technical staff to plan and prioritize project tasks in accordance with the firm's departmental goals. Monitors system software access, performance, and resource utilization. Primary responsibility for maintaining the z/OS and JES2 software environment. Work with application programmers to ensure that application problems do not adversely affect production operations. Provide 24/7/365 software support, including on-call support during off-hours. Assist with the analysis, design, programming, and implementation of client environments. Develop/maintain/monitor proper software use and security authorization policies. Create, maintain, and upgrade operating system software for development and production environments. Analyze requirements and recommend policies, procedures, and standards for operating system software. Implement and verify backup and recovery procedures, including Business Recovery testing. Own mainframe-based systems, including multiple z/OS sysplexes. Install new z/OS releases and configure to support Customer/Client environments. Keep supported systems current with the latest IBM maintenance; maintain system reliability and ensure availability. Be available after hours for emergencies or exceptional situations concerning the mainframe and mainframe-based systems. Resolve any system-related problems in a timely and efficient manner. Requirements
10+ years of experience with mainframe software management specific to the z/OS operating system and other software products. Broad knowledge of OEM products a plus (Broadcom, BMC, ASG, etc.). Ability to install and customize IBM and third-party software using SMP/E & other installation programs. Experience in keeping the z/OS hardware configuration current using IOCP and HCD. Experience supporting leading/training of software management. Possible variable hours may be required. Ability to write/customize software exit program(s) and use software utilities as required. Solid knowledge of mainframe JCL and utilities. Ability to write/read/debug programs in a batch and online environment. Ability to perform multiple activities simultaneously with minimal supervision. Knowledge of z/VM and z/Linux would be a plus and is NOT required. The interview process will include an initial phone or virtual interview screening. Additional information
