Strategic Account Manager
to expand our U.S. key account portfolio and drive sales growth.
Overview As a Strategic Account Manager, you will build and strengthen relationships with current and new key accounts, collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Care teams, and support the growth of Champion’s premium pet food brands across the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Direct accountability for managing sales in the U.S. key accounts, working with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Care departments to address key business opportunities.
Responsible for key account relations, including preparing and delivering relevant reports, operating budgets, sales forecasts, and participating in developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies.
Collaborate with sales analytics to identify gaps and opportunities to make and exceed sales targets.
Track and report on key account sales forecasts, wholesale sales, trade budgets, and marketing activities.
Ensure professional and productive business relationships are built and fostered with key accounts.
Develop and coach team personnel to ensure key accounts receive sufficient marketing and planning support.
Create and implement sales strategies and growth plans.
Monitor contractual compliance, including merchandising, pricing, trade spend, and training.
Stay current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
Other duties, as assigned.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Business or a related field; 10+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience indicating a strong track record in key account management sales.
Experience managing a sales team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Ability to travel at least 60% of the time within the U.S. and elsewhere as required.
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, execution, and team‑building skills.
Results‑oriented with proven business skills related to goal setting, budgeting, and reporting.
Analytical mindset with the ability to translate analytics into actions to exceed sales targets.
Experience accessing and analyzing Nielsen performance data to uncover business opportunities and ROI.
Ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations.
Strong problem‑solving and communication skills, both oral and written.
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe products, and Microsoft Outlook.
Willingness to work extended hours as necessary.
