NURSE EXTERN II, FMFH - MODIFIED CARE UNIT

Menomonee Falls, WI – Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital facility.
Job Type:
Full‑time, 0.3 FTE, On-site, Shift 1, 12‑hour days.
Job Summary Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern provides routine care and assists patients with activities of daily living. Responsible to the Patient Care Director of the assigned unit and the RN’s on duty on each shift.
Responsibilities
Assist patients with routine and daily care tasks.
Support nursing staff under RN supervision.
Complete documentation and care plans.
Perform general patient care and assessments.
Execute charge nurse duties as requested.
Experience Required A minimum of two acute care medical‑surgical rotations or one medical‑surgical plus one pertinent rotation from an accredited nursing school. Experience with medication administration is required. Six months or more as a nursing assistant is preferred.
Education Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing or a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing who is awaiting retake of the NCLEX exam.
Licensure & Certifications State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification preferred. Professional nursing certification and AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.
Special Skills Ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic, complete vital signs and basic patient care tasks; interact courteously with patients and staff; demonstrate competence in 60‑80% of essential functions.
