Trace.Space
At Trace. Space we're building the R&D engineering data platform for the top engineering companies building the world's most critical Hardware/Software systems - cars, planes, defense systems, space tech, semiconductors, medical devices, and more. Over the past decade, product complexity has skyrocketed 10-100x, driven by software proliferation and electrification, with further growth expected as autonomous features advance. Our mission is to empower engineers and their teams with cutting-edge tools to build the mission-critical technologies of tomorrow – products that legacy tools simply cannot handle.
Backed by $6M in seed funding from top-tier investors, we’re now inviting a Forward Deployed Systems Engineer to join our U.S.-based team.
Your role
Own the full sales cycle — from prospecting and qualification to demos, pilots, and procurement — across complex engineering and manufacturing organizations
Partner directly with engineering, R&D, and program management leaders to help them understand and adopt Trace.Space
Lead discovery sessions to map customer processes and position Trace.Space as the foundation of their systems engineering and traceability workflows
Collaborate closely with our founders, product, and forward-deployed teams to align technical capabilities with customer outcomes
Build repeatable sales processes and playbooks to move from founder‑led to scalable sales motion
Travel to customer sites for relationship building, workshops, and key account development (U.S.-based with occasional EU travel)
Represent customer voice internally, shaping roadmap priorities and go-to-market strategy
Requirements
4–8 years of experience in enterprise B2B SaaS sales, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, or technical software domains
Proven success closing six‑figure+ deals with complex buying committees
Deep understanding of solution selling, value‑based sales, and multi‑stakeholder enterprise cycles
Strong communication and demo skills — able to engage both technical and executive stakeholders
Comfortable operating in a high‑autonomy, early‑stage environment where systems and processes are being built from scratch
Legally allowed to reside and work in the United States, and comfortable with remote work
Willing to travel up to ~30% for customer‑facing work
Nice to have, but not required
Background selling to automotive, aerospace, defense, or industrial technology sectors
Familiarity with PLM, ALM, MBSE, or requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Polarion)
Experience working with R&D, systems engineering, or product development teams
Understanding of AI‑native, graph‑based, or traceability platforms
Prior experience as an early sales hire at a fast‑growing startup
Technical fluency or consulting background that enables deep discovery and solution mapping
