General Sales Manager

Pay range expected $100k-$200k depending on experience!*

The General Sales Manager is responsible for profitability in both the new and used vehicle departments and for customer retention. To achieve this, you must effectively manage sales managers and sales personnel, have a strong knowledge of the market, and an in-depth understanding of all sales departments’ financial data as well as strong customer relations skills.

It is your responsibility to build and maintain a team that can exceed budgeted goals and manufacturer objectives, achieve good customer satisfaction scores and to be sales effective with new vehicles.

The general sales manager is expected to uphold the highest ethical standards in every aspect of the job.

Responsibilities:

Hire, train, motivate and supervise the new and used vehicle department managers.

Plan and implement daily processes for new and preowned managers and sales staff to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets

Monitor and measure the performance of the department managers. Document counseling and performance reviews.

Oversee the display and merchandising of both new and used inventory both physically on the lot and virtually online.

Coordinating the appropriate supply of new and used vehicles in accordance with budget needs and Morgan day supply guidelines.

Hold regular sales and training meetings.

Ensure that a high level of customer satisfaction is obtained. Attend to customer complaints personally and quickly.

Ensure proper use of CRM including a thorough follow up process for all lead types.

Ensure that deal flow, CIT, rebate and other schedules are current and clean.

Understand and maximize all manufacturer incentive programs.

Educate team on any marketing promotions and processes for maximizing them.

Hit budgeted performance targets for volume and gross consistently

Work directly with our sales team and customers to develop relationships and help bridge disconnects in the sales process

Build rapport with customers to build a base of referrals to establish customer network

Provide training and support to the sales staff and assist in closing sales

Desk deals for sales professionals and take T.O.’s to maximize deal potential

Help manage all other aspects of the sales department

Work with wholesales to purchase vehicles for the inventory from auction, off-lease returns & intercompany

Complete trade appraisals

- Prior sales leadership – 2-3yrs of dealership experience required
