Consultant- Building Enclosures and Structural Engineering (Design and Diagnostics/Forensics) About the Company: My client is a well‑established structural engineering consultancy based in Brooklyn, New York. Known for their innovative approach and technical rigor, they specialize in the design of mid‑rise and high‑rise commercial and residential buildings throughout New York City. Their team is collaborative, forward‑thinking, and deeply committed to shaping the built environment with integrity and excellence.

The Role: My client is currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their leadership team. This individual will take charge of leading a small group of structural engineers and managing the structural design of new construction projects from concept through completion. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for mentoring others.

Key Responsibilities

Lead structural design efforts for mid‑rise and high‑rise buildings across NYC.

Supervise and mentor a team of structural engineers, fostering growth and accountability.

Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, contractors, and clients throughout all project phases.

Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.

Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure design intent and code compliance.

Manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets.

Ensure adherence to NYC Building Code and other relevant standards.

Contribute to internal process improvements and technical development.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Minimum 8 years of structural design experience in New York City.

Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams on complex building projects.

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York State.

Strong knowledge of NYC Building Code, zoning regulations, and DOB procedures.

Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, RISA, Revit).

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
