Overview D441 Test Engineers plan and execute Combat and Weapons Systems and Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems test programs with D278 Electronics Technicians in the shop, COATS facility CCSMs and shipboard for all submarine classes in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
Qualifying as and executing all duties of a Shift Test Director IAW NAVSEA 0905-485-6010
Conducting thorough job hazard analysis briefs to assure personnel and equipment safety
Ensuring proper safety and re-entry control procedures are in place and strictly adhered to
Certifying all prerequisites are fully met prior to commencing tests
Evaluating recorded data for conformance to test procedure requirements and specifications
Performing post-testing procedure reviews for completeness and accuracy
Conducting effective shift turnover to maximize cross-shift work continuity and efficiency
Documenting, publishing, and troubleshooting test hold ups and non-conformances
Interaction with trade personnel, ships management, engineering, and government personnel
Qualifications Required:
High School diploma or equivalent
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Minimum of two years of experience with shipboard construction, testing, and/or operation/familiarity with combat and weapons systems
Preferred:
Previous shipyard test or supervisory experience, or equivalent Navy experience onboard OHIO, VIRGINIA, SEAWOLF, or LOS ANGELES class submarines
Experience with the Navy tag-out process, EB shipboard tag-out process, or EB non-shipboard tag-out process is highly desired
Skills Must have the ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate good personal and personnel management skills. This position also requires excellent task management and communication skills to coordinate and direct integrated test evolutions, as well as understanding submarine construction and test philosophies.
