Panel Shop Manager Direct Hire | Blaine, MN | $125k - $145k
We are seeking an experienced Panel Shop Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our control-panel fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will combine hands‑on expertise in panel building/fabrication with strong leadership, workflow optimization, quality assurance, and continuous improvement capabilities.
Responsibilities
Direct and manage daily shop operations: scheduling jobs, tracking workflow, assigning resources and labor to meet production deadlines
Lead the fabrication of electrical control panels (industrial control, PLC cabinets, motor controls, etc.). Oversee layout, wiring, assembly, enclosure modification, testing, and shipping
Serve as a liaison between engineering/design and shop floor: ensure that drawings, bills of materials, and specifications are communicated clearly and executed accordingly
Monitor quality and safety: enforce shop safety protocols, ensure compliance with industry standards (UL 508A, NEC, NFPA), perform quality inspections, and identify root causes when issues arise.
Manage material inventory, tooling, and maintenance of equipment
Develop, coach, and mentor the shop team: hire as needed, provide training, conduct performance reviews
Qualifications
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electrical panel fabrication, assembly, or a related manufacturing environment, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong technical knowledge of industrial control panels, wiring practices, schematics, enclosure builds, drives, PLCs, motor controls, and test procedures
Familiarity with standards such as UL 508A, NEC, NFPA 70, etc.
Proven ability to lead and develop a team, set production schedules, manage workflow, and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work across departments and engage with both shop and management levels
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP/MRP systems (or willingness to learn)
