BBVA is seeking a highly accomplished and strategic leader to join its Global Markets team as an
Executive Director responsible for Financial Sponsors FX Sales . This role will lead and expand BBVAs relationships with private equity firms, alternative asset managers, and other financial sponsors, driving business origination and execution across the banks full suite of FX risk management products. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in positioning BBVA as a trusted partner to financial sponsors, ensuring delivery of tailored solutions that align with client needs and the banks strategic priorities. Key Responsibilities
Client Coverage & Relationship Management Lead and grow BBVAs coverage of global and regional private equity firms, infrastructure funds, and other financial sponsors. Develop senior-level relationships with decision-makers across sponsors and portfolio companies. Serve as the primary point of contact for financial sponsor clients, ensuring high-quality advisory and execution. Sales & Business Development Originate new business opportunities across financing (leverage finance, acquisition finance, structured lending), risk management solutions, and capital markets products. Collaborate closely with product specialists (DCM, ECM, leveraged finance, derivatives, structured finance, etc.) to deliver integrated client solutions. Drive revenue growth in alignment with BBVAs strategic objectives and risk appetite. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales and coverage team. Foster a collaborative culture across business lines and geographies. Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and across the wider organization. Strategic Execution Develop and execute BBVAs financial sponsors strategy in coordination with regional and global leadership. Track market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to inform strategy and client engagement. Represent BBVA in industry forums and at key sponsor events. Qualifications & Experience
Minimum
15+ years of experience
in financial markets, investment banking, or sponsor coverage. Proven track record of originating and executing hedging transactions with financial sponsors. Established relationships at senior levels across global private equity firms and alternative asset managers. Strong knowledge of leverage finance, structured lending, and risk management solutions. Exceptional leadership and team management skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate client needs into actionable solutions. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Fluency in English required; additional European languages preferred.
