Job Summary The Above Ground Pool Product Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic plans for product categories, managing vendor relationships, and driving innovation to achieve growth and profitability. This role oversees the product development lifecycle, including market analysis, pricing strategies, promotional plans, training programs, and new product launches. The position requires cross‑functional collaboration with various departments to ensure alignment with business objectives, while also acting as the primary resource for product expertise and industry insights.

Responsibilities

Develop and lead the strategic plan for the category and manage the vendor and product portfolio. Evaluate and understand strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats and stay aware of market intel and share analysis.

Create and manage sample and display programs.

Act as go‑to resource for product and programs; provide field and product guidance; manage customer, employee, and vendor conflict resolution; be voice of customer and content liaison to internal teams and industry.

Act as visionary for the category; manage new product introductions, obsolescent inventory management; collaborate with marketing and other departments to align vision, strategy, and timeline.

Ensure vendor and internal initiatives are aligned; identify process and product gaps and create solutions; identify best practices; maintain sales tools, MCPL, data management, forecasting and manage KPIs.

Create training content for internal and customer use; ensure success of factory training events, dealer conferences, and trade shows.

Analyze consumer needs and market trends to determine new product opportunities and prioritize according to strategy.

Create product strategy documents: business cases, market requirements, pricing & positioning, marketing strategy.

Assess competitor private label offerings; seek opportunities for differentiation and disruption.

Create buy‑in for product vision internally and externally through communications, leadership, and acting as product evangelist.

Drive product launches by partnering with Vendors, Sales, Marketing, Sourcing, Pricing, and other teams to meet category growth objectives.

Build solid vendor relationships to develop and execute promotional plans and product launches.

Serve as subject matter expert for products, solutions, and suppliers; provide training and market intelligence to field to grow revenue, profitability, and market share for channel.

Provide direction to Sourcing on price target, levels, discounts, costs, and other profit components to maximize category profitability while growing share.

Contribute to annual management strategy discussions focused on improving sales execution and other actions to grow category share, gross profit, and gross margin.

Provide leadership, expertise, and guidance to help organization achieve sales objectives and plans at different levels by working with field leadership.

Requirements

Experience in the pool industry preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business.

5 years of experience in product development and management.

Expertise with successful product launches preferred.

Significant experience in a dynamic product management role in consumer or industrial products.

Proven experience overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle including innovation assessment, competitive analysis, ROI, pricing, product launch, and promotional plans.

Highly effective cross‑functional team management.

Previous experience delivering finely tuned product marketing strategies.

Exceptional writing and editing skills combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills.

High level of competence with standard office software: MS Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

A valid driver’s license; satisfactory driving record – no more than 2 violations within 3 years.

The annual compensation for this position is between $75,000 and $80,000 based on a full‑time schedule. Additionally, this position may be eligible for relocation or cost‑of‑living adjustments.
