Description & Duties This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) vacancy in the Application Development/Support Assignment in the Police Department. First review of applications will be on Monday, November 10, 2025.
Application Developer Assignment:
Responsible for application development, integration, and support, including the creation of interfaces and reports across multiple databases for both internal and vendor‑purchased solutions. Involves gathering requirements and performing business analyst duties for various functions or complex customer needs and engaging with technical and non‑technical staff to define project requirements. Independently develops applications, manages coding and configuration in line with established standards, and conducts complex diagnostics and troubleshooting for designated applications, including custom‑built and commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) systems. Creates test scripts, performs QA reviews, maintains web‑based applications and dashboards. Conducts standard testing and change management processes, often serving as change owner, and provides clear written and verbal communication to customer areas and senior IT leadership. Mentors others and shares expertise. Performs independent judgment and decision‑making in diagnostics and troubleshooting. Provides high‑level technical application or product support and may lead medium‑to‑large projects using PMO methodologies.
Ideal Candidate Strong familiarity and experience in application development, integration, and support; solid understanding of the application development life cycle; proficient in written and verbal communication, customer service, teamwork, project and technical leadership, report writing, and technical documentation.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, with 3–5 years of experience in applications, database, desktop, GIS, network, security, server, or web support.
Special Requirements: Conditional offer must pass background investigation through City Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, and FBI; background investigation required due to sensitive nature of information; valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire or promotion date.
Substance Abuse Testing: Pre‑employment or pre‑placement alcohol, drug, and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in City policy for Police assignments.
