Tetra Tech Solid Waste West (SWW) is seeking an Environmental Field Technician. Responsibilities
Ensuring all regulatory objectives and due dates are being met, including the proper collection and documentation of environmental data. Operation & maintenance of Gas Collection & Control Systems (GCCS) on our projects, including performing routine and non-routine maintenance to ensure or restore proper operation and compliance. Monitoring and analyzing landfill gas (LFG) and liquids. Monitoring and maintaining the liquids conveyance & extraction systems within the GCCS; performing maintenance on pneumatic pumps, airlines, and force mains. Demonstrating critical thinking and proactive problem solving of complex GCCS issues. Travel to the job site daily; site locations will vary based on need. Occasional out-of-state or long-distance travel may be required. Assist in routine and non-routine tasks involving operation and maintenance of GCCS activities, including data collection, repairs, maintenance, and construction activities. Troubleshoot GCCS infrastructure and liquids extraction issues. Keep and maintain field logs via phone app (provided) and other methods. Use company-provided tools and equipment; take care of tools and equipment to keep them in good condition. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum high school diploma and 1 year of general working experience. Preferred A.S. or B.S. degree in environmental or another natural science field (geology, biology, ecology, etc.). Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to maintain field logs. Ability to respond to GCCS call-out devices 24/7, including holidays and weekends. Walk long distances and navigate outdoor terrain on uneven or sloped surfaces. Work outside in all seasonal weather conditions safely (hot and cold). Lift a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Pass a company-paid baseline health physical and drug screening as required. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver\'s license and travel to job sites. Complete the USEPA HAZWOPR, 40-hour environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher classes. Ability to use detectors (flame-ionization, photo-ionization, explosive gas detectors) and other environmental monitoring equipment and to learn related techniques. Familiarity with gas, soil, and air sampling techniques and applicable environmental and health & safety regulations. Understanding of operation and maintenance techniques for GCCS and landfill gas/liquids collection systems, data processing, and databases. Ability to prepare professional business documents (letters, reports, memoranda, etc.). This Position Comes With
