Chief Estimator

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.

Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.

Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.

Consult with clients, vendors, and employees in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.

Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover.

Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings.

Quantitative take-off and computer entry.

Prepare scope letters and proposals.

Maintain relationships with customers, General Contractors, vendors and subcontractors.

Ability to perform design/build, conceptual and budget estimates.

Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company’s drive within the confidential estimating folder(s).

Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work.

Maintain knowledge of current industry standards, trends, and regulations.

Position Requirements / Preferred Skills, Education And Experience

5+ years of experience in electrical estimating or related field.

Strong knowledge of electrical systems and construction practices.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.

Must be self‑motivated and able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.

Excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem‑solving, and multi‑tasking skills.

High standards of quality with attention to detail.

Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Software Skills

Knowledge of Conest Estimating Software preferred.

Proficient in Bluebeam, Egnyte, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams), and Cosential CRM software.

Language Skills

Must have effective communication in English and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
