Job Description overview: At the UW Dentistry Campus Dental Center, patients receive care by UW School of Dentistry faculty and GPR Residents. Responsibilities
Assist chairside with one provider for long periods or move between providers during key procedures as needed.
Prioritize work and support students or faculty providers to optimize learning and patient care.
Communicate with clinic faculty and resident providers to develop effective working relationships and support provider needs.
Provide excellent customer service to patients, students, faculty, and staff.
Assist in four-handed dentistry and routine chair-side duties and patient care.
Orient new staff and dental residents to clinic procedures and policies.
Maintain clean and prepared treatment areas; manage inventory and supplies as needed.
Expose digital intra- and extra-oral radiographs; take impressions for study models.
Maintain dental instruments, sterilization equipment, and hand pieces; monitor wear and replacement needs.
Provide information and instruction on oral hygiene; assist in nitrous oxide administration; assist with restorative and sealant tasks as appropriate.
Support clinical operations, including scheduling and maintaining patient records as needed.
Adhere to UW policies and School of Dentistry standards of care at all times.
Sterilization Responsibilities
Check instruments and cassettes with detailed asset records; operate autoclaves and sterilization equipment following protocols.
Assemble instrument packs and store sterile setups for patient care.
Monitor and maintain hand pieces; perform weekly spore testing on autoclaves and sterilizers.
Maintain a clean, orderly environment and provide excellent service to faculty, staff, and students.
Minimum Requirements
Completion of an accredited dental assisting training program and current certification as a dental assistant (CDA) or ability to obtain within six months.
Two years of experience as a dental assistant; one year of additional experience may substitute for education.
Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications, except where licensing or registrations are legally required.
Legal Requirement
Registration with the State of Washington as a Dental Assistant.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum: $44,172.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum: $59,484.00 annual
