Job Title Media Engineer at Optomi (Cloud & Infrastructure Technical Recruiter @ Optomi | Bachelor of Science)
Optomi, in partnership with a global leader in entertainment and media, is seeking a Media Engineer to support the acquisition, production, and distribution of media content across multiple platforms. This role requires deep technical knowledge of live media environments, broadcast technologies, cloud-based infrastructure, and real-time media troubleshooting. As a Media Engineer, you will be at the heart of sustaining and advancing innovative production systems used to deliver world‑class content.

Requirements and Skills of the right candidate:
5+ years in media/broadcast engineering (live production/control room environment)
Deep knowledge of SMPTE standards (ST 2110, ST 2059, etc.) and compression formats (MPEG-4, HEVC, JPEG 2000)
Experience with Evertz systems (Magnum, VLPRO, VUE, etc.) and other major vendors (Avid, VizRT, Adobe, etc.)
Hands‑on with AWS, Azure, EC2, S3, and hybrid cloud infrastructure
Scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or NodeJS is a plus
Foundational cloud certification required (AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, Azure Fundamentals, etc.)
Ability to read technical drawings (AutoCAD) and work in physical environments (ladders, platforms, lifts)
Key Responsibilities
Provide advanced‑level sustainment and troubleshooting across live media and production environments including control rooms, studios, and digital distribution systems.
Support media operations by resolving issues impacting acquisition, production, encoding, and content distribution.
Maintain and troubleshoot both traditional SDI and modern IP‑based (ST 2110) media workflows and systems.
Analyze and support on‑prem and cloud‑based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, etc.) including compute (EC2), storage (S3, Glacier), and virtualized media services.
Implement upgrades and patches to broadcast and cloud infrastructure under change control standards.
Operate and maintain a wide array of media equipment such as video switchers, encoders/decoders, IRDs, audio consoles, video routers, and automation systems.
Partner with third‑party service providers and enforce scope of services per agreements.
Contribute to technical documentation, system/workflow diagrams, and support knowledgebase development.
Conduct preventive maintenance, system health monitoring, and troubleshooting via tools like VLPRO, VistaLink, and other software control systems.
Work in tandem with engineering teams on large‑scale system refreshes, integrations, and future‑state architecture planning.
