Paving Assistant Project Manager - Primoris Heavy Civil Primoris Heavy Civil, based in Houston, TX, is looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager to lead high‑profile heavy civil highway projects and roads, including concrete slipform paving. The role requires travel to various project sites and cities.

Job Description

Review superintendents’ performance and make formal evaluations.

Provide education and training recommendations for superintendents and field personnel.

Promote leadership development for project managers and foremen.

Oversee construction operations, including utilization of company crews and equipment.

Ensure company tools and equipment are not abused or lost.

Assist Division Manager with hiring, training, directing, reviewing, and terminating salaried staff.

Monitor hiring, disciplining, and terminating field equipment operators and laborers.

Collaborate with Division Manager to develop, communicate, and enforce personnel policies.

Ensure compliance with company Equal Employment Opportunity/affirmative action policy and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise commitments.

Assist in developing safety policy and rules and ensure enforcement on the field.

Require and monitor weekly safety meetings; ensure prompt accident reports.

Coordinate flow of quantities and information between field and accounting to ensure payment.

Coordinate field quality control.

Maintain subcontractor relationships and coordinate subcontractors.

Maintain relationship with owners/engineers.

Establish and monitor production goals and weekly subordinates’ production targets.

Monitor equipment hours and utilization.

Ensure compliance with documentation procedures.

Maintain working relationship with company estimators.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience as a Project Manager on Highway, Road, and Bridge projects.

5+ years of experience on TxDOT projects.

Knowledge of concrete slip paving.

Effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.

Understanding of corporate and industry practices and standards.

Superior communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (assist needed for heavier loads).

Ability to work extended hours on foot, on uneven or rough surfaces.

Climbing, kneeling, crawling, or working at heights and in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management.
