Reporting to the Sr. Director of External Reporting & Technical Accounting, this role helps drive timely, accurate external reporting and provides hands‑on support on technical accounting matters. The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who can coordinate cross‑functionally, research accounting, draft clear memos and disclosures, and review the work of others and lead small projects.

What You’ll Do SEC Reporting & Compliance

Prepare and assist with periodic SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), Proxy Statement sections, and occasional registration statements.

Draft and tie‑out MD&A, footnotes, and earnings release materials; maintain disclosure checklists and reporting calendars.

Coordinate XBRL tagging and filing.

Ensure disclosures comply with U.S. GAAP, SEC rules, and SOX 404 requirements; maintain supporting workpapers.

Monitor changes in accounting/SEC guidance and summarize impacts for management.

Technical Accounting & Policy Support

Research accounting topics (e.g., ASC 606, 842, 805, 718, impairment, financial instruments) and draft concise technical memos for management review.

Support implementation of new standards; help maintain the accounting policy manual and templates.

Assist with complex transactions (e.g., M&A, equity awards, leasing, unusual contracts) and related journal entries.

Internal Controls, SOX & Audit Coordination

Document and operate key controls over financial reporting; support quarterly SOX testing and walkthroughs.

Coordinate audit PBC lists and deliverables; respond to audit inquiries with complete, well‑organized support.

Identify opportunities to streamline close/reporting processes and help implement improvements.

Collaboration

Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Investor Relations, Tax, HR/Stock Admin, Legal Counsel, and business teams to gather information and align messaging.

Review work of staff/contractors, provide coaching/mentorship, and lead small reporting or systems/process initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance.

CPA required.

7+ years total experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or public‑company reporting.

Strong command of U.S. GAAP, SEC rules, and SOX; proven experience preparing or auditing 10-K/10-Q.

Excellent technical writing, organization, and project management; comfort working to tight deadlines.

Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical accounting matters to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including management and auditors.

Experience with XBRL and tools such as Workiva/Wdesk, FloQast, NetSuite/SAP is a plus.

Life sciences or high‑growth public company experience is a plus.

This is the anticipated base salary range for candidates who will work in Brisbane, California. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to, the type and length of experience within the job, the type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units. CareDx is a multi‑state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
