GIS Developer
Prince William County We are seeking an experienced GIS Developer to join the Geospatial Technology Services (GTS) Program within the Department of Information Technology. This role focuses on building, maintaining, and enhancing GIS systems, applications, and services to support county operations and community needs. Key Responsibilities Addressing and responding to GIS service and project requests/tickets. Monitoring and maintaining GIS processes and workflows. Troubleshooting custom GIS desktop, web, and mobile tools, applications, and scripts. ArcGIS system administration, management, and support (including virtual servers, databases, software, and licensing). Application/software development using modern programming languages, best practices, and the Software Development Life Cycle. Providing advanced level GIS technical guidance, subject?matter expertise, and consultation. Project management and planning. Communicating effectively with stakeholders, managing expectations, and maintaining positive relationships. Developing technical and user documentation, including architecture diagrams. Leading and coordinating meetings and work sessions for the GIS team. Building and maintaining strong team unity and cohesion across all GIS and related groups. Co?ordinating with program leadership and key ArcGIS users to better standardize GIS initiatives. Driving GIS strategic goals and objectives.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 7+ years of progressive GIS technical experience in an advanced capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced technical knowledge of the latest Esri ArcGIS suite. Proficiency in modern programming and scripting languages. Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle. Experience developing custom desktop, web, and/or mobile applications. Prior work with an advanced GIS technical team in an enterprise GIS environment. Project management experience.
Work Schedule & Compensation
Standard workweek: 37.5 hours, MondayFriday, 8:00?am to 5:00?pm. Hybrid on?site/telework with at least one day in?office per week. Salary: $82,777.50$111,033.00 per year. Benefits
