Position Title Assistant Professor, College of Nursing - Medical Surgical (Non‑Tenure Track)
Location Lexington, KY
Job Summary The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing Undergraduate Program is seeking a Clinical Faculty of Excellence—Assistant Professor (tenure‑ineligible) for a 10‑month appointment with an anticipated distribution of effort: 50‑70% teaching and advising, 0‑40% clinical practice/instruction, 0‑10% research and scholarly activity, and 5‑10% service and professional development. Salary range: $75,000‑$90,000. Start date: on or before January 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate medical‑surgical nursing courses (BSN track) in classroom and online formats.
Provide clinical instruction and supervise students in clinical settings.
Advise, mentor, and support students in academic and professional development.
Participate in college committees, scholarship, and collaborations with faculty and staff.
Develop and maintain engaging curriculum and assessment practices for adult learner populations.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree in nursing (PhD or DNP) required; preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience within the last 5 years, with experience in medical‑surgical nursing and successful teaching of baccalaureate nursing students preferred.
Active, unencumbered Kentucky license as a registered nurse required.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Education / Experience
Doctorate degree in nursing preferred.
Experience in medical‑surgical nursing required.
Successful teaching of adult students and baccalaureate nursing students preferred.
