Job Title: Survey Crew Chief Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead field survey work related to boundary surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys, topographic surveys, photo control surveys, route surveys, and construction stakeouts. The successful candidate will operate under the responsible charge of a Registered Professional Surveyor, ensuring efficient field crew operations while adhering to standard operating procedures and health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Conduct field survey work independently and with crew members.

Operate robotic total stations and GPS receivers to accurately collect data.

Perform tasks such as cutting brush, driving stakes, taking detailed notes and diagrams.

Maintain company equipment and survey vehicles.

Ensure efficient operation of the field crew.

Log reports and hours virtually through the company laptop.

Essential Skills

5+ years of experience as a survey crew chief.

Proficiency in using GPS devices, data collectors, and Total Stations.

Strong knowledge of land surveying principles, techniques, and practices.

Experience in computer-aided drafting and knowledge of civil engineering principles.

Understanding of construction specifications, plans, and regulations.

Ability to operate motorized equipment and work outdoors under various field conditions.

Valid Driver's License.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with surveying software like AutoCAD, Carlson, Microstation, and others.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.

Familiarity with industry-specific safe workplace principles.

Work Environment This position requires fieldwork and does not require reporting to an office. Tasks are assigned at the first of the week, and reports/hours are logged virtually. The role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base, including residential, industrial, and multiple other clients. Employees are provided with a truck, phone, and computer after a short probationary period. The company supports educational pursuits by offering to pay for schooling if pursuing a degree or license. The organization is also moving towards incorporating drone technology in its operations.

Job Type & Location Permanent position based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits Pay range: $63,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year.
