Benefits Technician Senior
SALARY:
$25.63 – 29.71 DOE
REPORTS TO:
Risk Manager
LOCATION:
Government Center, Nespelem, WA
Basic Functions: Non-Exempt,
Under direction of the Supervisor, performs complex benefit coordination duties requiring a high degree of independent judgment; use good human-relations and problem-solving skills in the application of established benefit and related procedures; exercise responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of benefit coordination matters; and perform related work as required.
Qualifications Education and Training:
Requiresan associate degree in accounting or closely related field; OR Two years of increasingly responsible employee benefits management.
The equivalent of one-year full-time experience as an Employee Benefits Technician I in the Colville Tribes' classified service. (Non-classified includes District Attorney's Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts.) ORthe equivalent of three years full time experience processing and explaining health related employee benefits in a benefits program or department of a private or public organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic network navigation, general office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of computers and skills using certain Microsoft Office software applications.
Analytical skills for researching various data, identification or sensitive applications, and problem areas.
Problem solving, critical thinking skills and ability to adapt to the rapidly changing requirements of development of the Benefit systems.
Excellent organizational skills needed in order to work effectively with frequent interruptions, to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, and to establish priorities and organize workload.
Demonstrative motivation and ability to work independently, to be detail oriented (written and oral), and to have a consistent above-average work attendance record.
Ability to carry out assignments discreetly, effectively, and efficiently in sensitive, confidential circumstances.
Ability to relay recommendations, and give effective presentations and/or responses to questions from managers, employees, or the general public.
Requires the ability to communicate to management verbally or in written form.
Requires ability to track multiple incidents involving multiple parties and follow up to ensurethose items have been resolved or are in the process of resolution.
Ability to research, interprets, and apply appropriate regulations, policies and procedures as well as related tribal, state, and federal requirements.
Requires the ability to document events witnessed throughout each shift, daily thru data entry, word processing, maintaining multiple spreadsheets, performing information searches, and email.
Requires the ability to maintain records, files, and compile routine information used for reports on pre-determined formats.
Requires the ability to routinely comb through data received in report from multiple resources, in order to identify and red flag possible theft, embezzlement, or system deficiencies.
Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.
If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
