THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE: This Data Scientist is an integral part of the Ulta Beauty Strategic Analytics and Data Science team that utilizes the power of advanced analytics techniques to address the diverse business questions and challenges facing Ulta Beauty. Our teams mission is to provide Ulta Beauty a distinct competitive advantage by mining our rich data assets to inform strategic and tactical business decisions. As a Data Scientist, you will succeed by adapting techniques, such as Machine Learning and AI, conducting statistical analyses, and constructing large scale prediction systems in a fast-paced, data-focused retail environment. The Data Scientist will also act as a subject matter expert, communicating the value and tackling the application of advanced analytics for various use cases with multiple stakeholders across Ulta Beauty. YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY: Design and develop advanced analytical models to optimize communication and operational tactics, while generating overall efficiencies across Ulta Beauty In addition to classical statistical methods, research and implement new machine learning approaches and techniques to drive innovative analytical solutions that solve business problems and identify insights Explore our rich, omnichannel and customer data assets across our 45M+ Ultamate Rewards loyalty program members to construct analytical solutions for improving and personalizing Ulta Beauty guests experiences Develop a strong partnership and collaboration with internal Ulta Beauty teams and external advertising partners, performing as a key partner who consults on how to attain business goals through advanced analytics Explain and present complex analytical approaches and model results in a concise manner to drive alignment and outcomes from business partners Assess and understand the cost/benefit relationship of developing and deploying learned models based on changing business needs Ensure data integrity and quality by leveraging proven methodologies, including data reconciliation, data integration and data audits Continue driving a data driven culture across Ulta Beauty and mentoring less experienced team members on AI/ML techniques and MLOps :
ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS: 3+ years of professional experience in analytical functions, preferably for marketing analytics use cases Advanced degree preferred in a highly quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, etc. In-depth knowledge of statistical techniques and and machine learning concepts (e.g., multivariate regression, statistical inference, Supervised- and unsupervised learning, etc.) and experience applying these to use cases Proven fluency in Python and scientific related frameworks (e.g., Scikit Learn, Numpy, SciPy etc.) Experience with SQL and related data access and analysis tools to mine data, identify insights, and extract features Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform Hands-on experience with designing, deploying, and maintaining machine learning pipelines Hands-on experience working with Databricks Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to communicate complex ideas to various audiences in both a technical and user-friendly language Demonstrated ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently by handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, prioritizing appropriately and responding to issues quickly and creatively with an open and positive attitude Energetic and self-motivated with a strong sense of curiosity - must be extremely organized and detail oriented with an ability to make proactive recommendations View the big picture and drive towards business results Comfort working in a dynamic, research-oriented team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Practical experience with CI/CD and MLOps best practices and tools (Git, Airflow, MLflow, Jenkins, etc.) Experience working with customer-level data within Retail, e-commerce or related industries Experience developing and deploying deep learning and AI models in production environments Experience with Apache Spark (PySpark, and Spark ML) Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., Tensorflow, Torch, etc.) Knowledge of software development principles and architectures (Agile Software Development, etc.) Understanding of causal and uplift models : The pay range for this position is $102,900.00 - $120,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Companys bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs.
