Data Center Technician III Role The Data Center Technician III supports the operational integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of the data center. The technician should have strong knowledge of telecommunications, mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems, as well as data center operating procedures. We are hiring for the Night Shift: 11:00pm - 7:30am, Sunday-Thursday. A Tier III technician is responsible for day-to-day operations of the data center, including facilities and telecommunication infrastructure. Responsibilities are wide-ranging and multi-disciplinary, covering mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, and telecommunications disciplines. Mechanical responsibilities include working on chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems such as roof-top units, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification systems, and central plant operations. Electrical responsibilities include working on electrical/critical power distribution from the utility/generator switchgear through the UPS systems to the customer load, including power circuit installations. Fire Life Safety responsibilities include monitoring wet and pre-action sprinkler systems and associated detection devices. Telecommunications responsibilities include cross-connect installations, cabling infrastructure management, advanced remote hands support, and customer cage and cabinet build-outs. Responsibilities also include customer infrastructure build-outs (cage builds, overhead installations, rack and stack), cable termination and testing, maintenance work, and monitoring and responding to mechanical, electrical, fire protection, telecom, and security systems. These systems include transformers, PLCs, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, STS/ATS, PDU, chilled-water systems, CRAC/CRAH, sprinkler systems, network equipment, transmission media, cabling infrastructure, security hardware, and CCTV. Duties Complete CoreSites Data Center Operations Qualification Program to the tier level hired within the first nine months of employment. Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems (Electrical, Mechanical, Communications, Building Monitoring and Control). Track and trend operational characteristics. Provide feedback to management on the effectiveness of standards and processes. Collaborate with contractors and consultants for system expansions, corrections, and upgrades. Work with senior technicians to complete an aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance schedule. Ensure data center operates at maximum efficiency, analyze operating conditions, propose new technologies, and pursue cost reduction per CoreSite guidelines. Manage systems to avoid unplanned, customer-impacting outages. Navigate and utilize a CMMS system. Provide day-to-day exceptional customer service and support. Maintain regular facility and security tours and respond to issues found. Assist with database management of maintenance discrepancies and resolve site issues per priorities. Follow direction regarding data floor and back-of-house mechanical loading capacity to optimize cooling efficiency. Trouble ticket and Remote Hands management; fiber and copper cabling terminations; circuit path creation and verification. Coordinate and oversee power installations and upgrades; complete work orders and customer service tickets in a timely manner. Infrastructure projects (internal/customer). Cage and cabinet build-outs; overhead installations; rack and stack. Use developed procedures to solve problems; assist in asset and consumable inventory management; proper labeling of equipment; incident escalation and reporting; manage service requests; contribute to preventative or corrective maintenance procedure documentation. Adhere to CoreSites Principles of Operational Excellence and provide integrated mechanical and control expertise for the data center. This position requires interaction with CoreSite personnel, vendors, partners, contractors, and clients. Knowledge

Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center. Strong understanding of fiber optics/cabling infrastructure and best practices. Proficient knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and fire life safety regulations and building codes. Knowledge of industrial safety practices (lockout/tagout, arc flash, OSHA/state regulations). Proficient in data trending/tracking and analysis; able to learn and use PC-based monitoring systems. Skills

Minimum 2 years of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial/industrial systems including: Chilled water systems, large centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, water treatment systems, VFDs/pumps, HVAC equipment, CRAC/CRAHs, humidification systems, BMS/PLC controls, emergency standby diesel generators, fuel/oil systems, 480/277 and 208/120 distribution, UPS, pre-action systems, communications cabling, network infrastructure. Experience laying out, pulling, dressing, and terminating fiber and copper cabling; diagnosing IT hardware, servers, switches, and structured cabling. Proven leadership, excellent written and verbal communication; proficiency with Microsoft Office and project tools. Abilities

Effective communication with customers and internal teams. Ability to coordinate with contractors on maintenance or upgrades. Ability to learn quickly and address issues during and outside regular hours. Ability to work in a process-driven team environment; logical problem solving; multi-tasking across projects. Operate hand and power tools; use electrical testing tools (multimeter, infrared camera). Education/Experience

High School Diploma or higher. 2-5 years in the data center industry. Must pass extensive background check and, where permitted, drug screening after offer. Physical Demands

Stand/walk/sit as needed; climb/balance; stoop/kneel/crawl; reach with hands and arms; see clearly; normal hearing; lift up to 50 pounds; able to work outside normal hours including weekends/holidays; high-stress environment tolerance. Compensation

Base salary: $34.50/hr to $40.00/hr. Eligible for annual bonus and equity based on performance. Posting Timeline
